THE WE AGE: Achieving Balance

38267363_2101039686786588_595950411949539328_n.jpg

We have assembled leaders who are exploring balance: Katherine Ryder, CEO of Maven Clinic who was named Fast Company Most Creative People for her women's healthcare business; Jaclyn Lindsey, CEO of Kindness.org, who is researching and spreading kindness; Dina Bakst, CEO of Better Balance who advocates for work-life balance through law; and Catarina da Palma, a wellness practitioner from Portugal who works one-on-one with clients to balance their energy. It will be moderated by Carolyn Centeno, brand strategist and founder of The We Age.

At this workshop you will:
-Connect with fellow conscious leaders in a luxury wellness co-working space in Manhattan

-Enjoy Splendid Spoon soup and Harmless Harvest coconut water

-Explore balance with a women's healthcare startup CEO, a kindness non-profit CEO, a leading women's advocate and an energy wellness practitioner

-Participate in a bespoke meditation

-Learn tools to put into practice immediately

-Feel rejuvenated, inspired and connected

How do we achieve balance?

Work-life balance is illusive and many are still trying to define it. Big life changes can often throw you off whack. How do we balance family and work? How does compassion and kindness effect our lives? What tools can we use to center ourselves? Moving your mindset from imbalance to balance can change your life. We are bringing together female leaders in a night of conversation to explore tools for how we can all learn to lead from a place of balance.

CONSCIOUS CAPITALISM: THE HIGHER PURPOSE SERIES

conscious capitalism thing.png

“The secret of success is constancy to purpose.”

– Benjamin Disraeli

“Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction.”

– President John F Kennedy

Making money is essential to the growth and survival of a business; but it is not the only, or the most important reason a business exists. A conscious business focuses on a higher purpose beyond profit. Your higher purpose explains “why” your company exists—it is the difference you are trying to make.  Purpose is a unifying element: for customers, employees, partners, suppliers, and all stakeholders.

Defining your company purpose is one thing. Bringing it to life in the organization is another. What does it take to put purpose at the core of everything you do so that it energizes employees and guides decision-making and action on a daily basis?  Join us to learn how two companies, IBM and TerraCycle, activate purpose in every aspect of their business – from leadership, to people and culture to operational processes.

IBM, a global leader in the high-tech industry, has been shaping technology, the way corporations work, and how we think and live for over 100 years.  It is the fifth most valuable brand, fifth on the list of Just companies and the only technology company to receive a Catalyst Award for leadership in building a diverse and inclusive workplace.

TerraCycle is an international leader in “recycling the unrecyclable” and has won over 200 awards for social entrepreneurship and sustainable business.

Not only will you be inspired by how these companies are activating their purpose, you’ll leave ready to help your own organization make a lasting impact.

While this event is open to all, CCNYC Members (Leaders and Ambassadors) are free of charge — please make sure that you’re logged in to access this benefit.  Non-members can join CCNYC here. Primary members, please use discount code “primary” at checkout.

Say Bookkeeping is providing a free workshop to Primary members which covers the fundamentals of accounting and bookkeeping with the beginner in mind.  Accounting is more than just memorizing terms and procedures; it's a whole way of thinking about finances. This workshop assumes students have no prior knowledge about accounting or bookkeeping, and delivers lessons and examples to build accounting skills.  It will address accounting terminology, revenue, expenses, net income, the accounting equation, debits, credits, and balancing the accounting formula. We will also guide you through reading financial statements properly, and how to grab meaningful information from the balance sheet and income statements.

Participants are welcome to bring their personalized questions and real-world examples from their own businesses.  We will do our best to answer as many of them as possible.

About Say Bookkeeping:

Say Bookkeeping is a full-service bookkeeping and accounting firm headquartered in Miami with branch offices in NYC. Affectionately known as "SBK", the firm provides complete outsourced accounting solutions for small to mid-size businesses. Conscious Culture: Everyone Can Play a Role in Evolution with Andrea Cotter & Claudette Rowley

Hands-Around-World.png

Led by Andrea Cotter, Co-Founder and Partner in CultureTalk.com and Claudette Rowley, Consultant and Author (www.culturalbrilliance.com), the Conscious Culture series kicks off with an interactive workshop on conscious culture change. The workshop promises to help you:

— Look your “organizational elephants” square in the eyes

— Design a cultural solution that allows your enterprise to proactively adapt to change

— Decrease stress, inspire learning, and build organizational health.

In many organizations, culture is either not addressed at all, or when it is, it is only to note what is wrong, broken, or defective. Instead, how about calling forth brilliance? During this presentation, you’ll learn how to move beyond dialogue about culture into adaptive design and systemic implementation. You’ll have the opportunity to look at culture through a different lens and then engage in two exercises that you can apply in your organization right away.

You’ll learn:

— What nature teaches us about cultural change

— How to uncover how your culture really operates

— What you can do, regardless of your job role or position in the hierarchy of your organization

— Two lessons on culture from Star Wars: The Last Jedi

— How to create and apply a two-step cultural redesign

While this event is open to all, CCNYC Members (Leaders and Ambassadors) are free of charge — please make sure that you’re logged in to access this benefit. Non-members can join CCNYC here.

The Higher Purpose Series: Conscious Change with Gordon Robinson and Daniel Dworkin

Most large-scale change efforts are rooted in leadership’s desire to drive growth or reel in costs. When objectives like these are disconnected from a higher purpose that takes into account the needs of multiple stakeholders, the change process becomes rote, transactional, and ultimately susceptible to failure.

In this 90-minute workshop, Gordon Robinson of Changing Management and Daniel Dworkin of Kotter International will guide participants through an interactive discussion about how to leverage the power of purpose and the latest neuroscience research to turn business transformation into an inspiring and exciting opportunity to create value for ALL stakeholders.

Whether you’re overseeing a discreet business transition or seeking to create a more agile organization capable of navigating ongoing change, this session will help you become a more effective change leader.

In addition to the educational portion of this program, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with other conscious business leaders in NYC. Drinks and light bites will be provided.

While this event is open to all, CCNYC Members (Leaders and Ambassadors) are free of charge — please make sure that you’re logged in to access this benefit. Non-members can join CCNYC here.

She currently guides events in Los Angeles and around the world. As the founder of the organic skin care line Manaòs Beauty, Aychele has been curating Amazonian plant beauty formulas & botanical perfumes for nearly 5 years.

Born and raised in Brazil, the exotic flora, fauna and indigenous cultures from the rainforest forest have always ignited her passion. Manaòs Beauty was born to inspire others to connect with Amazonian plants on a daily basis, to encourage authentic beauty, and to support the Amazonian communities & tribes that share their culture and ancestral wisdom.

Alexander Hill has been on a holistic path of well-being for many years, a calling that was initiated during his first plant medicine ceremony nearly 5 years ago. Beginning with the modality of sound healing in 2013, Alexander has created many experiences combining sound with complimentary plant traditions & rituals. He is a certified yoga instructor and health coach with the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.

Upon letting go of most of his material possessions to travel the world, Alexander was able to learn invaluable lessons in the forests of Costa Rica & Brazil. After meeting Aychele in Brazil, the couple moved to LA to launch Manaòs Beauty.
