‘Energy flows where attention goes.’

Primary is the brainchild of Lisa Skye Hain, Danny Orenstein, and Brian Hain. In the winter of 2015, Lisa (an entrepreneurial community builder) approached Danny (a design construction specialist) to launch a vision she created in 2012. Realizing that wellness had helped each of them excel in both work and life, the founders embarked on a journey to combine both elements into a thriving workspace community— leveraging Brian’s health and fitness expertise as Chief Wellness Officer.
Start your day with a yoga class or guided meditation. Enjoy a freshly prepared lunch or cold pressed juice at our cafe. Join us for an evening networking event.
Your office or desk is turnkey—in addition to modern furnishings, it comes with an open invitation to daily events and classes: fitness, motivational and professional development. Also included: a members-only fitness studio, conference rooms and business amenities, men’s and women’s changing rooms with showers, drip coffee by Stumptown Coffee Roasters, & more.
In addition to serving complimentary coffee by Stumptown Coffee Roasters, members are able to purchase products from our wellness partners, including a full espresso menu, healthy vegan pastries from Brooklyn Whiskers and fresh pressed juice by Pure Green.
We are committed to providing our members with a warm, professional and mindful workspace.
Our team is always looking for opportunities to meet and exceed the expectations of our members. We’ve created an environment which encourages people to feel their best while providing them with tools to ensure their businesses flourish.
Focused by Design
First and foremost, we strive to create spaces which allow people to feel focused and comfortable. Our design errs on the side of simplicity– celebrating original building details, the character of raw materials, and select fine furnishings. Each location is filled with greenery; moss walls, fresh flowers and live planters can be found throughout.
Form & Function
We have taken steps to ensure that your business productivity is never compromised.
All office partitions are double glazed, yielding sound reduction ratings similar to that of solid plasterboard walls. Audio-masking solutions have been installed throughout common areas, reducing the impact of distracting ambient noises.
As a magnetic leader, poised public speaker, and master networker, Lisa has spent a lifetime amidst thriving small businesses. She managed two restaurants in Danny Meyer’s hospitality empire, worked on a top residential & commercial real estate sales team with The Corcoran Group, built one of the world’s largest and most prosperous Manhattan BNI (Business Network International) chapters, and served as WeWork’s founding Head of Community — overseeing operations for their first 275 offices. When not at Primary, you’ll likely find Lisa traveling with Brian and their baby Henry, practicing hot yoga, and/or eating coconut peanut butter.
As an entrepreneurial wellness leader, Brian has ventured into many dimensions of the health & wellness industry from launching endurance training businesses in Washington, DC and Portland, Oregon to leading business development efforts across the US for the World Adult Kickball Association (WAKA). With over a decade of experience that includes wellness programming, holistic health planning, multisport training, and community development, Brian has cultivated his craft as a health and wellness expert with a burning desire to raise the quality of health in the world. When not at Primary, you’ll likely find Brian watching films, enjoying the great outdoors, loving on his newborn son Henry, and/or trying some sort of healthy concoction.
Leveraging a background in architecture with field construction expertise, Danny has worked on a wide breadth of projects ranging from award winning apartments to $9mm luxury retail flagship stores. On the retail side, he served as Director of Store Development and Construction for Aesop Americas, Senior PM for Kate & Jack Spade, and founding Director of Development for WeWork. With WeWork, Danny oversaw the design and execution of the brand’s first 500,000SF / six locations. When not at Primary, you’ll likely find Danny cycling, jumping on a plane for an overseas adventure, and/or cooking a delicious meal with locally grown produce.
Emma is a self-taught business entrepreneur who grew and ran a high volume website that provided women with all the resources they needed to get pregnant and have a healthy pregnancy. Small in stature, Emma is big in spirit and loves the challenges and exhilaration that comes with growing a business. Prior to working in Business Development, Emma worked in Foster Care for one of the largest Child Welfare agencies in NYC. When not at Primary you will likely find Emma taking a barre class or eating the spiciest food she can get her hands on.
As Cafe Manager, Dennis is not only the smiling face behind your morning cup o’ joe, but a community builder who believes the greatest job of a professional barista is to connect the coffee, the story, the flavor, and the people—something he loves to do each day at Primary!
Over the past fifteen years, Dennis has fulfilled many roles at a wide range of New York area restaurants from barista to restaurant manager to wine director. Prior to joining the team at Primary, Dennis managed two successful Third Wave coffee shops where he furthered his knowledge of exceptional espresso preparation and one-of-a-kind customer service.
When not at Primary, Dennis loves to travel the country in search of exceptional food, fine wines, and great times.
Throwing events is as much a lifestyle as a profession for Holley, who enjoys bringing people together for engaging experiences more than just about anything (except maybe puppies). She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Stephen F. Austin State University and has lived in seven different countries. With an eclectic background in event management, non-profit development, conservation, and international business, Holley brings a kaleidoscope of experiences and a goofy sense of humor to Primary. When not at Primary, you’ll likely find Holley cycling or running through the city parks, noshing on avocados and swigging kombucha..
KO2 Consulting couldn’t have launched at a better space that embodies our core values of sustainability, energy, wellness for healthy people and planet! Health and well-being are keys to success in life and business!
Primary has quickly become more than an office space to Hackerati. It feels like an extension of our team and a home that reflects our values and culture. We feel more inspired, collected and quite simply, happy, working here.
Work and life have become one for most of us. Primary realized this simple truth and is creating an environment bringing together a community of like-minded individuals.
Moving our Showroom and HQ to Primary the day they opened was a gut instinct decision we are so pleased to have made! Love how the collaborative environment naturally excels our growing company – and the fact that we can share social moments with yoga and green juice, rather than beer and ping pong, truly fits our brand’s fun-loving and well-balanced lifestyle.
I accomplished more in my first 2 weeks at Primary than I had in my 12 weeks of working from home. Daily meditation has improved my focus, Dennis’s Stumptown brew keeps me energized, and the community of members has expanded my network. Having previously worked out of another co-working space, I am confident that I will call Primary my home base for as log as possible.
Primary has changed the way we work. It has allowed us to be in a creative atmosphere which has increased overall productively for our entire team. We love the wellness addition to this workspace with 7 of our team members taking part in daily sessions such as meditation, functional fitness and yoga.
Anyone looking to relocate to a new environment, look no further!
Primary is such a refreshing re-imagining of not only of the shared-office/co-working experience, but of what work should feel like in general!
A calm, centering place to work + a vibrant community intent on helping fellow members succeed + the ability to take care of my body through all the classes = total hat-trick!
